I like to think I have a vague clue when it comes to booking railway tickets. So checking some Southeastern times and prices to Whitstable and Canterbury should have been easy? Maybe it is just me, but I find Southeastern’s website very confusing. It took some time to work out which station trains leave London from for Canterbury.
Then the prices…. Two Off peak and two Anytime offered at two slightly different prices – restrictions apply – but you are not told what they are. Baffling to many as our research last year showed – ‘not HS1’, what does that mean?. A long overdue ticket information overhaul is in the offing…

The rail industry is full of jargon… there should be a campaign to get rid of it. E.g. “Line side equipment failure”, “Gate line”, “On time”

Courtesy of Greater Anglia Alresford. I suspect he did it to prevent people buying off peak fares now the off peak period has changed to 12 noon onwards. The ticket machines up until last week were giving out off peak tickets at 9.30am.
